roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer

I finally cut back the mint and put it with some sage, marjoram and lavender in the sitting room. All evening I kept thinking someone was cooking up something delicious in the kitchen (fat chance) until I realised it was the herbs on the table behind me.

On the farm the oilseed rape is being sown in the ground and today has a late summer on the edge of autumn feel. Tomorrow we’re going to a “Summer Party” and when the invitation arrived I imagined wafting about in a strappy dress, chilled drink in hand as we basked in the warmth of the sunshine. Not quite so sure about that now.

Aha, the sun has just broken through. Yes, it’s still summer. Hurrah.
