I’ve been out in the wind this afternoon picking blackberries but have given up. I slipped into the ditch twice (and not in the least bit elegantly) and it was rather disconcerting as the wind whipped the whole bush backwards and forwards while the tree branches swayed above.
I shall try again tomorrow and hope that the wind has left some fruit. We have a new regime for hedge cutting on the farm and as a result have already been able to pick kilos of blackberries this year. Most of the fruit will be used for Blackberry Gin but yesterday we ate warm Blackberry and Apple Kuchen (adapted from The Domestic Goddess) and we get purple moustaches drinking blackberry and apple juice at breakfast.
